Winter White Tulip

Sometimes, in the midst of the festivities of the season, surrounded by friends and family, it can all become a little overwhelming.  The to-do list feels like a mountain to climb.  Traffic is more annoying than usual.  The answer is, ‘I don’t know’, to the question – ‘Where do I begin!’

In the middle of it all, even when it’s all good, is the need to come back to centre, to come back to yourself.

I know I was feeling this way.  There were so many things I wanted to do..things I wanted to give, people I wanted to see.  Everything seemed to be in order – list, checked twice; all going smoothly.  Yet, all I wanted to do was stop.

To pause.

To breathe.

To take a moment.

To savour.

For me, these are some of the best moments.  When I get to stop and just notice what’s going on.  Get my bearings.  Take in the beauty.

Like when I discovered this lone, winter-white tulip as I was rushing to the next thing. So much beauty in one single flower.  All by itself.  Silk-like petals, swirling and swishing like an elegant party skirt.  Simple beauty in this ‘parrot tulip’ dressed in white.  I don’t want to miss this – this beauty in the moment.

It’s why I like to pause.

Pause and connect, and discover the beauty.

And, speaking of pausing..I just have to pause here for a moment to celebrate my amazing mom who is celebrating her birthday today.  Love you, Mom. Thank you for all you are.  Wishing you a year filled with many, many, many beautiful moments!
