A bit corny, I know.
A heart on Canada Day.
Not generally my way of saying things…
But, I didn’t have a great shot of the Canadian flag to use…and my other shots from today’s Canada Day Celebrations were not particularly great.
And, I didn’t want to let the day go by without saying anything at all.
So, here it is…
A heart-felt, yes, birthday wish on Canada Day.
I do truly believe Canada is a remarkable country. (And, to be honest, I’ve never been one for big shows of patriotism.)
But, the older I get, the more I appreciate it…its beauty, its diversity, its history (not always, but often) of peace-making. I appreciate more and more the founding document, the Constitution Act of 1867 – the ground on which Canada was born, which at its centre calls for, ‘Peace, Order and Good Government’.
We don’t always live up to this..and many have thought the phrase to be a little uninspiring, but I have to say, I love a call to action that begins with an expression of Peace. Pretty compelling.
And, so, with this red, hearted image (a found heart, by the way – a reflection of light found, one day, on my living room wall), I say, Happy Birthday to Canada, and extend wishes for peace to all, on this, Canada’s 146th birthday.
