Moon Rise

+++

As I journeyed west this summer, I was up with the sun every morning.  It was partly the time-change working in my favour.  Unquestionably, it was also the desire not to miss a thing.  Every day I was on the road, I was up bright and early.

But, for all that sunshine, it’s the moon that I think of as my constant companion during this adventure.  Once I reached British Columbia, the moon was making herself known, night AND day.

I’ve got to say that photographically speaking, I was pushed all the time on this trip: shooting on a moving train – and through glass; shooting landscapes completely new to me; wild life photography, even some people photography, and sun rise and moon-rise photography. None of it in my comfort zone – how lucky was I!

So, for this month’s Third Thursday Challenge, it wasn’t difficult to find an area of photography where I’ve been stretching my skills:  I bring you some of my photographs of the rising moon. I have to say there’s something magical about a moon rising, and I was fortunate enough to witness it night after night when I was on Vancouver Island.  But, on my last night in Tofino, I woke up to see the fog rolling in (see the last two images).  By the way, I didn’t have a tripod for my trip.  So, all the shots are hand-held, (or secured against a rock!)

Here you go…a little moon magic for you…
