Lichen and leaves..
Gracing the ground’s surface.
It’s not what I’d come to see.
I was standing on this ancient piece of stone, looking at the view, eyes and camera set on the horizon, looking into the distance. The sun had set but pink light was lingering in the sky, and reflecting off the lake.
What a beautiful sight.
And, then, I looked down. To secure my footing. To ensure I didn’t slip and fall.
And, under foot…such beauty!
The vibrant leaves of autumn, the soft texture of the lichen, the dark, ancient stone settled at this spot in another age.
As time ticked-by with the fading light, it felt like time beneath my feet stood still. The ancient rock, the turning leaves, the fading light. One moment that went on forever.
